Most teachings on marriage begin in the wrong place.They begin with:
marital pain, conflict, emotional dissatisfaction, communication breakdown, statistics on divorce, or modern relational challenges.
While these realities are real and pastoral care is necessary, they are not authoritative.
The purpose of a thing is never defined by its problems.
The purpose of a thing is defined by its creator.
This is the governing axiom of this course:
If marriage was created by God, then:
its purpose must be interpreted by God,
its design must be understood from God,
its outcomes must be measured by God’s intent, and its success must be judged by God’s desired results.
Anything else is post-Fall interpretation.
